The natural world relies on the transition from golden light to true darkness. Founded by Meteek’s own Randy and Cynthia, Amber Standard provides "true amber" lighting that prioritizes photobiology and ecological health over raw lumen output. These systems reclaim the night by eliminating the atmospheric degradation caused by high-kelvin white light.

Why the Standard?

We work with Amber Standard because it replaces the blunt force of industry-standard illumination with technical restraint. Standard white LEDs are dominated by blue-rich wavelengths that signal "daylight" to the human brain, suppressing melatonin and disrupting circadian rhythms. In a northern climate, this is particularly problematic; blue light scatters aggressively through fog and snow, creating a veil of skyglow that reduces visibility and washes out the stars.

Application of Amber Light

Amber Standard utilizes long-wavelength light—conceptually closer to firelight than noon sun—which preserves human night vision and prevents light trespass beyond the property line. By combining this specific spectral output with fully shielded fixtures and motion-sensor logic, we provide necessary safety and architectural definition for waterfront homes without disorienting local wildlife or sacrificing the view of the Milky Way. This approach is essential for any project where the integrity of the nocturnal environment is as vital as the structure itself.
